Protecting Our Children

Use CleanHotels.com to Safeguard Family from Pornography

A family went to a city for a conference. The children were young and innocent. The father went to the office to check on something and the mother stepped out of the room for a moment. The children turned on the television. There were porn images on the screen advertising pay-per-view adult pornography. The children flipped the television set off, but they had seen hard-core pornography, and those are images that none of the children will ever forget.

Let me share another story. Matt enjoyed a wonderful life. He was a successful, hardworking sales rep, but he was quick to tell you that his life revolved around his wonderful wife of 14 years and their three terrific children.

Today Matt lives alone, separated from his family, struggling to find employment and trying to pick up the pieces of his shattered life.

For most of those 14 years, like so many successful businessmen, Matt found himself on the road and away from the family several nights each week. He missed his family, but he rationalized that traveling went with the job, and he considered it a small price to pay to provide well for his wife and children.

It happened on one of the many road trips. On a lonely night in his hotel room, Matt started surfing the channels on his television set and gave into the temptation to order one of those adult selections that he had resisted so often in the past. Just out of curiosity, he rationalized. What could it hurt?

Viewing that one graphic, hardcore movie triggered an addictive habit that came to dominate Matt's life. In the months to follow, his wife divorced him and he lost his children and his career.

Though tragic, Matt's story is not that unusual. His story is one that is repeated with variations countless times every week in hotel rooms across the nation

There is a solution to this problem that will protect your family from experiencing the damage done by pornography. It is also a solution for husbands who travel for their occupations. On CleanHotels.com, you will find a list of hotels that do not offer adult pornography on pay-per-view channels. Phil and Vickie Burress, founders of Citizens for Community Values, in Ohio, founded this website in order to protect homes and families from the hardcore pornography industry. The majority of hotels across America, including major chains, make available the worst-of-the-worst in hardcore, pornographic movies through their in-room pay-per-view service.

Why do these hotels include this service? The answer is “profit.” Adult pay-per-view movies account for 80 percent of in-room entertainment revenue and 70 percent of total in-room revenue. LodgeNet, the primary company that provides these movies to hotels lures hotels to subscribe to smut by dangling offers of huge profits in front of them.

Hotels boast of responsible corporate citizenship, but they poison families by selling pornographic movies that ruin families.

It is amazing what we can accomplish by not accepting the status quo. A member of a citizens' group phoned hotels and persuaded one owner to remove pornography from all nine of his hotels.

I hope you will use the cleanhotels.com website to make future reservations and, when you have an opportunity, let other hotels know that because they offer adult pay-per-view, you cannot make a reservation with them. Let's protect our families and strengthen our community standards.
