UFI's Abortion Guide Casts Doubt on Abortion Industry

There are many exciting things happening at United Families International. This week's alert highlights two very important additions. First, in recognition of the 34th anniversary of the United States Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton rulings which legalized abortion on demand, UFI is pleased to introduce our latest publication on family policy -- the "Guide to Family Issues: Abortion " -- a thorough and comprehensive source of facts shedding light on abortion and the industry that supports it.
The World Health Organization estimates that 68,000 women die each year from the complications of abortion. And, since the 1973 Supreme Court Rulings, more than 47 million pre-born children have been killed in abortion clinics in the U.S. You most likely will not read that in your local newspaper, but you will find this and more in our Abortion Guide. It is the most comprehensive resource available providing peer-reviewed scientific research, expert commentary and sound, logical arguments supporting the pro-life position on the controversial topic of abortion.
The "Guide to Family Issues: Abortion" begins by addressing the essential argument surrounding abortion: is the unborn child human? The scientific evidence is clear: yes -- human life begins at conception and deserves protection during all stages from beginning until natural death.
The Guide uses social science research to demonstrate that abortion is seldom a woman's "choice," due to the coercion of others. Research is also clear that "legal abortion" does not guarantee "safe abortion."

UFI Appoints New Executive Director
I am also very pleased to announce that long-time Arizona state legislator Laura Knaperek has been named executive director of United Families International. She succeeds Julie Walker, who did a wonderful job in that role previously. Walker will now be able to focus on organizational growth as our director of operations. In Knaperek's new position, she will direct UFI's Defend Marriage Project and oversee international policy, marketing, fundraising and publications.
Knaperek established a pro-family/pro-life voting record while serving her Tempe, Arizona district in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1995-2002 and from 2004-2006.She has chaired and served on several committees the promote family issues. Prior to serving in the state legislature, Knaperek served from 1990-1994 as executive director of the Arizona Consortium for Children with Chronic Illness.
