District of Columbia Plan would Teach Children about Homosexuality, Abortion
A proposed sex-education curriculum would require public middle-school students to study homosexuality in the District of Columbia. The "Health Learning Standards" say eighth-grade students should be taught the definition of sexual orientation "using correct terminology" and learn that some people "may begin to feel romantically and/or sexually attracted to people of a different gender and/or to people of the same gender." Ninth-graders would be taught about the availability of abortion, and sixth-graders would be taught about alternature sexual orientation and gender identities.
