Welcome to Restore Marriage, Canada!
This is a new project launched by United Families Canada to restore traditional marriage to our country.
With the election of a Conservative government, we have a chance—probably our last chance—to restore this critical institution that throughout the history of civilization has been essential to forming and maintaining strong and healthy families. Strong families, in turn, have always been the essential foundation of all successful societies.
Even though Prime Minister Harper has promised to have a vote on revisiting the same sex marriage issue, it is by no means clear that he now has the votes to succeed. He will need the help of all of us who understand how important this effort truly is. On this site we suggest several things you can do right now to help.
We first must convince a majority in Parliament to vote to revisit the issue. After that, the government can bring forth a bill and hold the fair, balanced and extensive hearings on marriage that were denied under the Liberal government before Parliament passed Bill C-38 last year to legalize same sex-marriage across Canada. We are confident that in fair hearings, we and others will make such a compelling case for restoring traditional marriage that we can succeed.
Each of us can do something to help. One important thing is to sign the new, on-line petition (below) that we are circulating to urge Parliament to revisit the legalization of same-sex marriage. We will be sending this petition to Parliament with periodic updates until the vote takes place.
Second, please encourage your friends, neighbors, work associates and anyone else you know to also visit this site and sign the petition. It is easy to do, just enter their e-mail addresses in the special feature we have set up below. They will get an e-mail from you with the suggested text we provide (which you can modify as you wish).
Finally, each of us can become better educated about the importance of marriage so we can better educate others. We provide some of the best material available on this site to help you better understand what is at stake.
It will take all of our best efforts to educate the public, the media and MPs on why our future and the strength of the nation and society we pass on to future generations of Canadians depends largely upon our being successful in this effort.
Time is short. We do not know when the vote will happen in Parliament but the Prime Minister has committed that it will be “sooner rather than later” so please act today!

PS -- We have also created a petition for our international friends to sign, urging our government to revisit the Civil Marriage Act and to consider imposing Canadian residency requirements for couples wanting to marry. National Petition to Restore Marriage
As a Canadian citizen I urge you to vote to revisit the issue legalizing same-sex marriage in Canada.
The negative impacts on future generations of Canadians from legalizing same-sex marriage were not carefully and thoroughly considered before Parliament legalized it in 2005.
Restoring traditional marriage is so essential to our future and to the kind of nation and society we pass on to future generations that I am convinced that this issue must be debated fairly, extensively, factually and responsibly as soon as possible.
