The Illinois Family Institute is encouraging parents to boycott Scholastic Books for including a book promoting homosexuality in its most recent catalog. They are objecting to the book book, Luv Ya Bunches, which includes the lesbian parents for the story’s character Milla. According to the Guardian, the book’s author, Lauren Myracle, “regularly made the list of the most banned and challenged authors in the US.
Scholastic Books, one of the largest education publishers in the word, particularly for children in elementary and early-secondary school, is featuring the book on its “Teacher’s Picks” page as one of the “Best Books” for grades 3-5.
