Komen Foundation Can Now Run a Stronger Race Against Breast Cancer
In a decision that has sparked outrage among the pro-abortion community and jubilation among those committed to life, the Susan G. Komen Foundation has announced that they will no longer be providing funds to Planned Parenthood. Komen announced a new policy clarifying that they will no longer partner with any organization that is under any type of investigation. Planned Parenthood has been charged with covering up statutory rape cases and participating in various forms of financial misconduct, including a history of Medicaid over-billing.
Planned Parenthood claims to provide essential health care services for women; stating repeatedly that “women will suffer if we are defunded.” Yet it is clear that there are many options for women to get healthcare that do not have to include an organization that is the largest abortion provider in the country – performing nearly 330,000 abortions in fiscal year 2010, while only making 841 adoption referrals during that same time.
In addition, Planned Parenthood President, Cecile Richards, appeared on television last year in an attempt to stop a bill that would defund Planned Parenthood, claiming in part that Planned Parenthood provided mammograms:
“If this bill ever becomes law, millions of women in this country are going to lose their health care access, not to abortion services, to basic family planning. You know, mammograms, cancer screenings, cervical cancer.” [CNN, Cecile Richards on The Joy Behar Show, 2-21-11]
But Ms. Richards ended up with a huge problem; Planned Parenthood facilities don’t even provide mammograms! Many organizations were quick to point that out.
The Susan G. Komen Foundation has had an increasingly difficult time justifying the giving of funds to an organization that doesn’t even provide full breast cancer screening and at the same time promotes abortion – a procedure that is more and more being linked to an increased risk of breast cancer.
We respect and applaud the integrity and the courage of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Now is the time for each of us to thank them and we need to do it very quickly and publicly. You see, right now the Susan G. Komen Foundation is being pounded with thousands of angry emails from the pro-abortion camp. Planned Parenthood is even using this turn of events to raise money from their supporters.
Please take a stand with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. They have acted with bravery. It is time for each of us to do the same. Take a minute, right now, and send them a note. It doesn’t have to be long. Write to news@komen.org and say “Thanks for defunding Planned Parenthood.” That’s all you need to say.
Do it right now! Email: news@komen.org
Say: “Thank you for defunding Planned Parenthood.”
That’ll be one of the easiest things we at United Families International have ever asked you to do. We thank you and so do the unborn whose lives you have helped saved.
Sincerely,
Carol Soelberg
