Dear Friends,
In just a few weeks, the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will begin in New York City. As the most highly attended UN commission of the year (6000+ attendees), it is a whirlwind of activities and competing ideologies, where the fundamental role of the family and dignity of life are frequently sidelined or redefined.
But, once again, United Families International is not just watching from the sidelines. We are entering the halls of the UN with a plan.
We have been in the “throes” of intense preparation to ensure the pro-family message is heard loud and clear in three strategic ways:
- The Advocates: We have been training over 50+ dedicated advocates – high school age and older – to attend CSW with us and engage in peaceful conversations, “seed-planting,” and strategic Q&A. They aren’t there to shout—they will be there prepared to influence and persuade with grace and truth.
- The Conference: We are hosting the Conference on the State of Women and Family (CSWF), a vital two-day parallel event that unites pro-family and pro-life organizations from across the globe. This is the third year of this conference and each year the success and recognition has grown. This year we are gathering additional UN Missions to sponsor our CSWF events which will bring even greater awareness to the importance of the pro-family/pro-life message.
- The Negotiations: Behind the scenes, we are working directly with UN Missions to review the “Agreed Conclusions”. Our understanding of both the positive and concerning nuances of UN words, and the tools we provide these leaders, significantly increases the chance that harmful verbiage is removed from this negotiated document and replaced with language that honors life, marriage, and religious freedom.
We are 50+ voices against thousands, but we know that one well-placed question, or one sincere conversation with a diplomat or attendee can change the course of a negotiation and/or open hearts and minds to the positive, incomparable impact family can have on individuals and societies around the world.
To get our team to the finish line, we need to raise additional funds by March 9th.
Your gift of $50, $100, $500 or more, directly funds the young adult training, UFI and CSWF materials, the venue for our CSWF conference, and the diplomatic resources our team needs to be effective.
Thank you for standing with us as we carry this positive and crucial message to the UN’s world stage.
Faithfully,
Wendy Wixom, President
